"Into all the World"
Saving lost souls is the responsibility of the Lord's’s church. It is a responsibility given by our Lord Himself (Ephesians 3:10-11). In order for souls to be saved the gospel must be preached, and in order for there to be preaching, there must be a preacher (Romans 10:13-17). That is why Jesus, before He returned to heaven, Jesus told his apostles to go into the world and preach the gospel to all people (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16; Luke 24:46-47).
The elders at Main Street firmly believe in the Great Commision and have guided this congregation to place a strong emphasis on seeking and saving the lost, not just in our own local setting, but around the world. Our congregation supports a number of full-time missionaries in several locations. In addition to sending funds, we believe in personally being involved in the areas we support. Each year Main Street sends many of our own members into the mission field to work with local missionaries. Wherever we can have an influence, we try to show Christ’s love and to present a church that strives to follow in His faith and practice.
The number one goal of missions is to seek and save those who are lost through the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is truly the "power of God unto salvation." The Main Street Church of Christ is actively involved in spreading this good news of Jesus Christ at home and around the world. Our mission efforts over the years have included such places as Montreal, Hong Kong, South Africa, Guatemala, and the Ukraine, as well as many places here in the United States.
